New Book Published for Physicians on Goal-Oriented Health Care

Goal-Oriented Medical Care: Helping Patients Achieve their Personal Health Goals is now available from Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

Goal-oriented medical care focuses directly on the four major health goals: 1) prevention of premature death and disability; 2) maximization of quality of life; 3) personal growth and development; and 4) a good death.  Shifting the focus from problem-solving to goal-attainment helps to humanize care, broadens the range of potential strategies, and creates a rational basis for personalization and prioritization of care.  In addition, it provides a conceptual framework for interdisciplinary teamwork and health care system re-design.
